Valenti scores ninth win of the year
By Brian Liskai
FREMONT, Ohio – Shawn Valenti put an exclamation point on a fantastic 2025 racing season Friday, Oct. 10 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction. The Fostoria, Ohio driver, who earned his fifth track championship a couple of weeks ago, held off a late race charge from stock car driver Jordan Conover to score his ninth victory of the year at “The Track That Action Built.” Valenti earned his 91st career win at Fremont by taking the Showdown Series event that pitted the dirt trucks against the stock cars on Truck Worx of Ohio Night to close out the track’s 2025 season.
Stock car driver Jeffery Foks took the lead at the drop of the green with fourth starter Valenti taking charge on lap four. Valenti built a three second lead when the 20-lap feature’s only caution flew on lap 12.
Valenti fended off challenges by Craig Dippman when the green came back out but it was eighth starter Conover who was on the move, taking second with five laps to go. Conover closed quickly on Valenti as they raced through lapped traffic. Coming to the checkers Conover dove under a lapped car while Valenti went high and scored the win by .336 seconds over Conover, Kent Brewer in a truck, Keith Sorg in a truck and Jacob Rendel in a stock car.
The two-race series (Oakshade Raceway and Fremont Speedway) Art Ball Cup title went to Jarrett Rendel.
“This season has been unbelievable and Jeff Babcock and the guys gave me a fast truck all season long. We didn’t finish out of the top four all year long,” said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, Holman Drilling, S&S Hauling and Excavating #7B truck.
The Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction awards banquet will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Moonshine Night Club in Fremont with the top 10 in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks being honored.
