Fremont Speedway hosts third leg of Sprint Speedweek
07/01/2001:
FREMONT, Oh. (June 30, 2001) - Fremont Speedway will certainly live up to its name "The Track That Action Built" on Tuesday July 3 as the All Star Circuit of Champions pay a visit for the third leg of the Ohio Sprint Speedweek.
The 19th annual Speedweek - 7 straight nights of racing across Ohio - kicks off Sunday at Attica Raceway Park then travels to Buckeye Speedway near Orville, Ohio on Monday and Fremont Speedway Tuesday.
The Speedweek show has traditionally been one of the biggest shows in Fremont Speedway's history with such winners as Steve Kinser, Doug Wolfgang and Frankie Kerr. In fact, last year, Kerr scored the Speedweek feature win and announced his retirement from the sport the next day.
So far this year, Fremont native and current Findlay, Ohio resident Chad Kemmenah, and Lockborne, Ohio's Rodney Duncan have scored All Star wins at Fremont. They will be considered the cars to beat on Tuesday, along with Benton Ridge, Ohio's Greg Wilson who has scored All Star feature wins each of the last three weeks, and Fremont track record holder Rob Chaney, who has scored a pair of All Star wins in the last three weeks.
Cars from across the country are pre-entered in the Ohio Sprint Speedweek.
Gates open Tuesday at Fremont Speedway at 4:30 p.m. with racing to begin at 7:30 p.m.
