FREMONT, Oh. - Mother Nature is playing havoc with dirt tracks this year. For the second straight Saturday, rain brought a halt to racing at Fremont Speedway.
While early morning clouds gave way to some shots of sun in the late afternoon, a heavy shower at 5:15 p.m. caused the cancellation of races.
"It simply would have taken too long to run the track in. We want to be good neighbors," said speedway promoter Jim Ford.
It looked to be a great field of cars, including Rodney Dunan, who sits in second place in the All Star Circuit of Champions point standings, and Jeremy Campbell, a regular with the Gumout World of Outlaws Support Series.
"The Track That Action Built" will try again on Saturday, June 9 as the All Star Circuit of Champions makes their second return of the season. It will be a make up from the Saturday, May 26 rainout, however it will be a regular All Star show and purse with sponsorship from Fremont Fence. The Budweiser 40 sponsorship from May 26 will move to the July 3 Ohio All Star Sprint Speedweek show.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. next Saturday with the first race scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
