Kenny "The Mouse" Jacobs and Phil Gressman drew a large crowd of onlookers Tuesday at Fremont Speedway during a test session for Goodyear Tires.

The two tested tires for over five hours on the new clay surface. The test also provided speedway personnal with their first look at how the new clay, installed over the winter, will hold up under racing conditions.

"The track stayed smooth, and that's the number one concern. As long as it stays smooth the drivers can put on a good show," said Fremont Speedway promoter Jim Ford.

Jacobs, who has never won a feature at Fremont Speedway, drove the most laps during the test. Gressman was forced to spend valuable testing time in the pits as engine problems forced the Wise Motorsports team and crew chief Marshall Campbell to change motors.

Representatives of Goodyear Tire were on hand for the test, bringing several tires.

The tire test drew hundreds of onlookers, eager for the track's opening night, this Saturday, April 28.
