FREMONT, Ohio – Heavy thunderstorms, saturated grounds and an unfavorable weather forecast have forced Fremont Speedway officials to cancel Saturday’s (April 16) season opener.

“We got hit with a lot of rain late in the morning and the track was just too wet to work on and there isn’t any good drying weather in the forecast so we are forced to cancel for the entire weekend,” said Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer.

“The Track That Action Built” will open for its 60th anniversary season on Saturday, April 23. Eagle 99 Night will feature the first of 10 scheduled races in the Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) Championship series at the track. It’s a big weekend, as on Friday, April 22, Attica will also host a FAST event paying $3,000 to win for the 410 sprints with Fremont Speedway following the next night with another $3,000-to-win showcase.

Also competing at Fremont Speedway with the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints will be the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing underway at 7 p.m.
