| Fremont
and Attica to use transponder scoring in 2012
Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011
FREMONT, Ohio – Attica Raceway
Park and Fremont Speedway will continue their cooperative spirit in 2012,
when both tracks will incorporate transponder scoring for all divisions.
Attica’s weekly Friday night
events include winged 410 sprints, winged 305 sprints, UMP late models
and dirt trucks. Fremont’s weekly Saturday night events include winged
410 sprints, winged 305 sprints and dirt trucks.
The cost if a race team chooses
to purchase the transponder unit is $235 which includes the transponder,
charger, orange protective pouch and shipping. The rental fee is $5 per
night. Both tracks will incorporate the Westhold system (yellow transponder)
that is used by the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions.
Late Models and Dirt Trucks
can purchase the direct battery wired version (the Orange transponder)
for $200.
Both tracks tested the transponder
units toward the end of the 2011 season and they held up well, according
to track officials.
“The transponders can help
reduce scoring errors and help speed up the night’s program. We will still
use human scorers as a back-up. The scorers at both tracks do an excellent
job…it’s a very difficult task to hand score and these ladies have carried
out task in a professional manner for many, many years,” said Attica Director
of Operations Rex LeJeune.
Ross Paulson, who has volunteered
for several seasons helping with line-ups, scoring, track point systems,
sponsorship, etc., will be in charge of the transponder program and has
the units available for sale.
