FREMONT, Ohio - Last week Brock Mayes was challenging for the lead at
Fremont Speedway late in the race when he had to avoid a lapped car and slid
off the track. He redeemed himself this Saturday, as he set fast time, won
his heat race and made a daring move in lapped traffic with five laps to go
and went on to claim the 410 sprint feature on Burns Iron and Metal Night.

The "M's" were wild at Fremont Speedway on Mother's Day weekend, as Josh
Muntz claimed his 2nd career victory in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305
Sprints, and defending track champion Jim McGrath scored his fourth career
victory in the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks.

Mayes hunted down Mike Linder  who had lead the first 24 laps of the 30-lap
A-main. Entering turn three on the 25th lap, Mayes went to the bottom while
Linder went to the high side as they split a lapped machine, with Mayes
rocketing off the corner for the lead.

"We pulled in tonight and Daniel (Smith) that helps me said I want to sweep
everything. We set fast time, won the heat and the feature... he owes me
some sort of drink," said Mayes in the Engine Pro Victory Lane beside his
J&F Construction, Mansfield Cement, Kin Brothers Heating and Cooling backed
#11b.

Muntz looked in control of the 25-lap 305 sprint feature but when he hit
lapped traffic with eight laps to go, Nate Dussel began to close. A caution
on lap 19 gave Muntz a clear track and he pulled away for the win.

"I was getting real worried. I was trying something on the top...I couldn't
get around them up there. That caution was awesome. We went back to the
bottom and I didn't think anyone had anything for me on the bottom," said
Muntz beside his Wal-Mart, Wow Epoxy Floors, Muntz Equipment Rebuild #M28 in
the Engine Pro Victory Lane.

McGrath took the lead on a lap two restart and survived a wild last lap as a
truck blew its motor right in front of him and laid down oil, causing him to
slip and slide to the win in the 20-lap dirt truck feature.

"We've run good all year, but just couldn't find that little something
extra. We found it tonight, but it wasn't easy, there was oil all over the
last two turns and it was nail-biting time," said McGrath beside his J&F
Miller Farms, Winesburg Barbecue, B&K Auto Service backed #5 truck.

Pole-sitter Mike Linder grabbed a huge lead a the drop of the green of the
Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main, with David Harrison, Craig Keel,
Cole Duncan and Brandon Martin in tow. Linder hit lapped traffic by lap 7,
as Harrison settled into second while Keel and Duncan battled it out for
third. The only yellow would fly on lap eight, and on the restart, once
again Linder pulled away.

At the half way mark, Linder was encountering lapped traffic again, with
Harrison still in second, while sixth starting Mayes had moved into fourth
and a lap later moved around Keel for third. Mayes dispatched Harrison a lap
later and was beginning to close on Linder who was having difficulties
getting around a lapped machine. Mayes hounded Linder for the next seven
laps before making his winning move. Behind Mayes at the checkered was
Linder, Duncan who really came alive the last five laps, Keel and Martin.

"We were a little too much on the right rear the first 10 laps and I
couldn't get the wing back quick enough. Sometimes I get a little
impatient...I thought I might have waited too long to go tonight. But once I
got the wing in the trunk we got going," said Mayes, who thanks his father,
Jim for all he has done for his racing career.

"This year I've got one motor and one car, so we have to be smart. I knew we
were good here last week, so we came back from Eldora to race here because I
knew we had a good shot at the win. I wanted to get the confidence going for
the team and for me," added Mayes.

The start of the 305 sprint feature got off to a rough start, as defending
champion Stuart Brubaker turned over on the second lap. Muntz quickly built
a sizeable lead after the green came back out, while Jimmy Colvin, Nate
Dussel, Dustin Dinan and Bill Kraylek battled behind. Dussel would move into
second on lap 12 while Colvin battled Dinan and Todd Heuerman for third.
Dussel began reeling Muntz in by lap 17 while Colvin, Heuerman and Dinan
raced hard for second. The car on the move was John Ivy who was up to sixth
from his 12th starting spot by lap 14.

Just as Muntz hit lapped traffic on lap 19 and Dussel began to set him up
for the pass, Heuerman looped it out in turn one to bring out the caution.
With a clean track ahead, Muntz went on to the win with Dussel, Dinan, Ivy
and Steve Rando rounding out the top five.

"I saw Nate on the bottom once...I thought we're going to have to cowboy it
up and get this thing moving and then that caution came out and I knew we'd
be alright on the bottom," said Muntz. "We've been getting better and better
every week."

The dirt truck feature also got off to a rough start as Cory Ward got on his
lid on the second lap. When the green came back out, Loren Schwochow jumped
into the lead while sixth starting McGrath slid into second, Brian Sorg
third and last week's winner Steve Endicott in fourth. McGrath would drive
to the outside of Schwochow for the lead on the third lap while a tremendous
battle ensued for second between Schwochow, Endicott, Bob Dible, Art Ball
and Steve Sabo. Endicott would grab second on lap 8 while Dible would move
into third a lap later. McGrath could only maintain about a two-truck length
advantage as Endicott, Dible and Ball raced hard for second.

McGrath found the middle of the track to his liking and he went on to score
the win while Endicott, Ball, Dible and Steve Sabo would round out the top
five.

Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, May 16 for Roots Poultry
Night with the 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks in action. It is another
Kistler Racing Products FAST (Fremont Attica Sprint Title) Championship
Series night for the 410 sprints as well.
