FREMONT, Ohio - Last week, Tim Shaffer roared through the pack to take the
win at Fremont Speedway. This Saturday, he had to fight with Lee Jacobs
throughout the 30-lap affair before scoring his second 410 sprint victory on
Fort Ball Pizza Palace Night.

"I'm really liking this track...you can race all over it and this is so much
fun," said Shaffer in the Engine Pro Victory Lane beside his Kistler Racing
Engines, J&J Race Cars backed #83.

"I'll tell you what, for just putting that team together last week, Lee
Jacobs and Andy Potter sure are tough," added Shaffer.

Todd Heuerman took the lead on lap 17 and went on to score his fifth career
Fremont victory in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints. Heuerman
battled early with Dustin Dinan and Paul Weaver before ending up in the
Engine Pro Victory Lane.

"Last year we struggled so we put together a new car over the winter and
sure has made a difference," said Heuerman beside his P.W. Chamberlin
Trucking, Quality Concrete, Sam Gerdeman's Construction backed #18.

Last week, Cory Ward, the 2007 Fremont dirt truck champion, cut a tire and
fell out of contention. This week, the Sandusky driver wasn't to be denied
as he led all 20 laps of the Fremont Fence Dirt Truck A-main. However,
opening night feature winner Art Ball pressured him the last half of the
race before Ward took the checkered for his 14th career victory at "The
Track That Action Built."

"I thought I had this thing on cruise control then we had a yellow (with
seven laps to go) and I look up at the scoreboard and see that 01 behind me
and I couldn't shake him," said Ward beside his Excuses Lounge, Budweiser,
Precision Body and Frame, T.J. Hosang Construction backed truck.

Lee Jacobs jumped into the lead of the 410 sprint feature with Byron Reed,
Shaffer, Greg Wilson and Dale Blaney in tow. The only yellow would fly on
lap six with the running order Jacobs, Reed, Shaffer, Wilson, Blaney and
Chad Kemenah. Shaffer moved into second on lap nine with Wilson moving into
third on lap 11. The leaders hit lapped traffic by lap 14, which allowed
Shaffer to drive under Jacobs  in turns three and four for the lead.

Shaffer would pull away slightly before lapped traffic allowed Jacobs to
close on lap 18 as the two raced nose to tail. Then Wilson and Blaney would
close to make it a four car battle. Shaffer would navigate lapped traffic to
take the win, with Jacobs, Wilson, Blaney and Kemenah rounding out the top
five.

Jack Trevino would take the lead at the start of the 305 sprint feature with
Paul Weaver, Dustin Dinan, Nate Dussel and Stuart Brubaker in tow. Trevino
would miss his marks in turn two on lap six, allowing Weaver and Dinan to
slip by. Dinan would drive under Weaver for the lead on lap 9 as they raced
into lapped traffic. Meanwhile Heuerman, who started sixth, was up to fourth
and moved past Trevino into third on lap 11. Weaver would slid off the track
in turn two on lap 14, moving Heuerman into second. Heuerman would drive to
the outside of Dinan exiting turn two on lap 16 to grab the lead.

While Heuerman flew out front, Dinan had his hands full with a resurgent
Trevino and Brubaker. When the checkered flew on the non-stop feature, it
was Heuerman over Dinan, Trevino, Brubaker and Bobby Clark.

In the 20-lap dirt truck feature, Ward jumped into a commanding lead, while
six trucks battled out for second with Loren Schwochow, Steve Endicott, Kent
Brewer, Jim McGrath, Art Ball and Bob Dible duking it out. Endicott would
move into second on lap 7, bringing Ball into third a lap later. After a
side-by-side battle for six laps Ball would move into second. The only
caution would fly on lap 12 with the running order Ward, Ball, Endicott,
Schwochow, Dwight Waltermeier, Jimmy McGrath Jr. and Brewer.

Ward's big lead was gone and Ball began pressuring with Endicott and
Waltermeier in tow. But it was too little too late as Ward would take the
checkered over Ball, Endicott , Waltermeier and Schwochow.

Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, May 2 on Baumann Auto
Group Night with the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal
Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks in action. Log onto
