FREMONT, Ohio - The gauntlet
has been thrown...Fremont Speedway is
challenging the drivers
of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws and the
O'Reilly All Star Circuit
of Champions. Can the world's best sprint car
drivers defeat the tough
regulars in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints
at "The Track That Action
Built" for $15,000?
The purse for the Abdoo
Wrecking Presents the Jim Ford Classic Season
Championship Night
- Saturday, Sept. 20 - for the 410 sprints will be
$42,900 ($500 to start the
A-main)!
"We'll put our drivers up
against anyone. The World of Outlaws will drive
right by here on their way
east to their Sunday race. The All Star drivers
can attest to how tough
it is against our regular drivers. There's a lot of
money on the line...this
could be a lot of fun," said Fremont Speedway
Promoters Rich Farmer and
Andy James. "Like most racers this year, the All
Star and World of Outlaw
drivers have had their share of rain-outs....we're
hoping they will be hungry
to race and take home some big money."
Fremont drivers like Byron
Reed, David Harrison, Mike Linder, Mike Dussel,
Craig Mintz, John Ivy, Mark
Keegan and more look forward to the challenge of
racing against the likes
of All Star drivers Dale Blaney, Lance Dewease, Greg
Wilson, Randy Hannagan,
Brandon Martin, and Brian Ellenberger or World of
Outlaw drivers Daryn Pittman,
Chad Kemenah, Terry McCarl, Shane Stewart, Sam
Hafertepe Jr. or others.
Last year, former outlaw
driver Stevie Smith came to Fremont Speedway and
took home $15,000.
And the 410 sprints aren't
the only ones getting an opportunity at extra
cash.
The drivers in the Fremont
Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont
Fence Dirt Trucks will see
increased purses. And, every driver will run in a
feature. Both divisions
will be split up into odds (1,3,5,7, etc.) and
events (2,4,6,8, etc.) in
points and will run in a feature event only. The
winners of the 305 sprint
features will take home $750 ($9,420 total purse)
while the winners of the
two dirt truck features will each claim $500
($4,780 total purse).
"This format also gives some
guys a chance to advance in the final point
standings and rewards the
305 and truck drivers for their tremendous support
throughout the season,"
said James.
Farmer and James also decided
upon the name - Abdoo Wrecking Presents the
Jim Ford Classic Season
Championship Night - to honor the former speedway
promoter.
"Let's face it, if it weren't
for Jim Ford and the investment and sacrifices
he made eight years ago,
Fremont Speedway might not even be around. This is
the least we can do to honor
his commitment to this race track and to the
race teams and fans," added
Farmer.
More importantly, Farmer
and James are committed to keeping the admission
price affordable for families
for such a big show. Grandstand admission for
adults will only be $20
while senior citizens will pay $15 and teens will
cost $10 (kids 10 and under
are free). Pit passes will be $30.
