Former sprint legend recouperating

FREMONT, Ohio (Oct. 9, 2002) - Former sprint car driving legend Harold McGilton of Fremont, Ohio, is undergoing rehabilitation following a recent stroke.

McGilton, the 1964 and 1970 Fremont Speedway track champion, sits 8th on the all-time career feature win list at "The Track That Action Built," with 40 victories. McGilton, best known for piloting the Sam Stites yellow and purple #81 and the Donny Eckhardt #4 sprinters, made several Knoxville Nationals A-mains and won several All Star Circuit of Champion features in the early and mid-1970s.
