Yeley Picks Up SCRA Non Wing World Championship
Ohio (August 8th)-The Sprint Car Racing
Association made their first ever visit to The Track
That Action Built Fremont Speedway for the second
of the Non Wing World Championship. 31 cars were on
hand to do battle on the tight 1/3-mile track.
J.J. Yeley picked up fast time for the night with a
time of 14.165. The Hedman Hedders heat number one
went to Mike Kirby, Rodney Argo won the Shaver Engines
Heat #2, as Richard Griffin won the Spin Tech Mufflers
heat #3, and A.J. Anderson won the Stinger Chassis
heat #4. The JE Pistons Passing Masters Dash went to
Damion Gardner. Troy Rutherford picked up the B-Main
In the 50-lap A-Main event sponsored by Pepsi, Damion
Gardner started on the pole with Tony Jones on the
outside. Damion took the early lead but J.J. Yeley was
on the move. He started in the 4th spot and was
battling for the lead on lap 3. Yeley was able to get
around Gardner to cruise to his 3rd feature win at
Fremont Speedway. Second went to the 20 of Damion
Gardner, third was Rip Williams, fourth was Bud
Kaeding, fifth was Richard Griffin, sixth was Cory
Kruseman, seventh went to Rickie Gaunt, eighth was
Mike English, ninth was Tony Jones, and rounding out
the top ten was Rob Chaney.
In the 305 Econo divison, Brock Mayes picked up his
fourth feature win at Fremont Speedway passing Caleb
Griffith with about 10 laps to go. Second went to
Bryan Scott, third was Caleb Griffith, fourth was Mark
Lang, and rounding out the top five was Scott Miller.
This Saturday night Fremont Speedway will be having
the Fremont 50 sponsored by Pepsi. 50 laps will be the
distance with the winner for the 410 feature taking
home $5,000. Gates open at 4:30 racing at 7:15.
