Beaber Returns to the Track at Fremont Saturday

By D.J. Johnson

Johnny Beaber will turn 49 years old this Thursday, May 30,2002. He’ll
just go to work at his Beaber Built Chassis Company on Thursday and most
likely Friday. Saturday, June 1, 2002 could be different however. Johnny
Beaber plans to return to the seat of a 410 sprint car at The Fremont
Speedway on Saturday. If Beaber feels he can still compete on a high level,
he will continue to race with his son Tony providing the horsepower with an
engine that Tony traded a Midget for. The black number 66 Beaber Built
Chassis will make the tow to Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway either Friday,
June 7 or Friday, June 14 to renew old friendships.

Beaber made it clear that his return to sprint car racing was because he
wants to, his family is involved and its not to just add to his win total of
55 features at Lernerville Speedway over a nine year period. Beaber stated,
"Records were made to be broken. We’re fortunate to have it for a while. If
Ed Lynch Jr. wins and gets the record, it would be great for him and his
family." Beaber also stated in an exclusive interview with The Inside Track
for RPM Racing News that if all goes well, there is a chance he could be
reunited with his former car owner, Dick "Soupy" Sabo.

Tune into The Inside Track at www.1360wptt.com next Sunday at 11 am as Johnny
Beaber will join us to discuss his return as a driver in his first race back
at the Freemont Speedway on Saturday.
