Patterson claims late model loot
Miller wins second straight; Roepke takes truck win

FREMONT, Ohio (Sept. 18, 2004) - St. John, Michigan's Kris Patterson
outdueled Shane Yoder to claim the American Late Model Series win Saturday
to close out the 2004 season at Fremont Speedway.

Patterson, the current ALMS point leader and defending series champion, took
the lead from the drop of the green, and battled Keith Berner in
side-by-side racing the first three laps until the only caution of the
30-lap affair flew. On the restart, Patterson hugged the bottom of the
track, with fast qualifier Yoder one of the few cars to utilize the high
side, moving into second. Patterson and Yoder raced door to door the next 25
laps before Yoder went to the pits with mechanical problems.

Yoder then had to hold off a hard charging Berner to claim his second career
feature win at "The Track That Action Built" on True Value Hardware of
Woodville Night. Aaron Scott was third with Bryan Ruhlman and Steve Casebolt
rounding out the top five.

"I have to thank my mom and dad and the entire crew. I pinched a nerve in my
back and haven't been able to work on the car recently and they've been
doing it all," said Patterson. "It's finally good to be on the front stretch
for one of these again. The track was awesome tonight and Shane and I put on
a good show for the fans."

Fostoria's Jamie Miller picked up his second straight feature win in the 305
sprints, taking the lead from Daniel Smith early and flying around the high
side in his Rowmark Plastics sprinter for his third victory of the season.
Scott Miller came home second, Smith was third, Bill Kraylek fourth and
Bryan Sebetto rounded out the top five. By virtue of his eighth place
finish, Fremont's Brian Smith claimed the 2004 track championship for the
division, having already claimed the track title at Attica Raceway Park a
few weeks ago. Also, Sebetto took the $700 top prize for winning the
Computer Man Dash Championship for the season.

"I really like to run that top groove. But, you have to be careful...it's a
fine line between going fast and running off the end," said Miller. "What a
great way to end the season at Fremont with two straight wins."

Woodville's Danny Roepke battled with Art Howey Jr. for most of the Coors
Light Dirt Truck feature before picking up his second win of the season.
Howey, Brian Arnold, Andy Maynard and Bob Dible rounded out the top five.

"We made a lot of changes to this thing after the heat...we were terrible in
that," said Roepke. "I have this thing for sale, but I might just have to
keep it for next year."

 With his seventh place finish in the feature, Steve Sabo wrapped up the
2004 Fremont Speedway Track Championship for the Coors Light Dirt Trucks,
his third title in five years.

A great field of 55 late models signed into the pit area, along with 37 of
the Coors Light Dirt Trucks and 37 of the 305 sprints.

Fremont Speedway will crown its 2004 track champions - John Ivy in the 410
sprints; Brian Smith in the 305 sprints and Steve Sabo in the Coors Light
Dirt TRUCKS - at the awards banquet planned for Nov. 6 at Ole Zim's Wagon
Shed, St. Rt. 590, south of U.S. 20. The top 10 in points in all three
divisions will get a trophy and prize money. Tickets for the banquest, which
includes a delicious meal, are $25 each and can be purchased by calling the
track's office at 419-862-2206.
