Haulmark All Star
Sprint Ohio Speedweek
Fremont Speedway -

By Scott Hall
FREMONT, OH - John Ivy scored an
impressive win Tuesday night at
Fremont Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 40 lap Ohio Speedweek
feature sponsored by Coors Beer. After taking the lead from early leader
Lee
Jacobs on lap 25, Ivy led the rest of the way for his first All Star
win of
the season over Greg Wilson. He also became the third different Speedweek
winner this week. Ivy earned a $500 bonus from Kear's Speed Shop for
winning
with the track spec Goodyear right rear tire.
"Lee Jacobs had me worried, then about halfway through
the race I finally
found the middle groove," Ivy stated. He then thanked Sonny's Machining
and
Welding, Kistler Engines, Pro-shocks, Henry Motorsports/Motorcar and
his car owners Sid and Beth Eikelberry for their support. "Man this is
awesome," he concluded.
Jacobs and Ivy started on the front row with Wilson and
Todd Heller
making up row two. Jacobs bolted out to a strong lead, with Ivy trailing
in
second. Wilson held third with Jac Haudenschild in fourth. By the halfway
point
Ivy reeled Jacobs back in through heavy lapped traffic, and the leaders
were
nose to tail. Ivy kept right on Jacobs, and used his Fremont experience
to
make the winning pass by diving under Jacobs to lead lap 25. Ivy was
clearly
the fastest car on the track, and pushed out to a huge lead.
Wilson came on strong at the end of the race, going high
around Jacobs to
take second on lap 35, but he trailed Ivy by a half lap at the end.
Jacobs
was third at the end ahead of Haudenschild, Todd Heller, ninth
starter Kelly
Kinser, last starter David Harrison and Byron Reed. Mark Keegan ended
up
ninth and Dale Blaney was tenth.
"Hopefully things are coming together for us," Wilson said
after his
runnerup finish. "The American Racer Tires are coming around. John
Ivy is
tough here, so congratulations to him and his team."
"We were really good at the start. I'm just not as good
in the middle as
John Ivy is at this race track, " Jacobs said after finishing third
in the
Burmeister No. 16. "At the end the car just faded away."
The Crown Battery heat fell to Brock Mayes, the B&B
Products heat went to
Jesse Hockett, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by David Harrison
and the TP Wings heat fell to Rob Chaney. Caleb Griffith won the Outerwears
Pre-filters C Main and Craig Mintz won the University of Northwestern
Ohio B
Main. John Ivy captured the Haulmark Dash and Mark Keegan was the Huggins
Cams Fast Time qualifier. Randy Hannagan was the non-qualifier's race
winner.
All-time Fremont Speedway career feature win leader Art
Ball added to his lead by scoring the victory in the Coors Light Dirt Truck
feature. Ball, 65, from Tiffin, now has 66 career feature wins at "The
Track That Action Built."
"I never thought I'd have that many wins here. I have to
thank my crew and all my sponsors. I'm having fun and I'm no where near
ready to hang it up yet," said Ball.
