Fremont Speedway
Postponed Due To Wetness
By Brian Liskai
FREMONT, Ohio (May 15, 2004) - Persistent
rains Friday night and Saturday morning, coupled with all-day cloud cover
Saturday caused the cancellation of racing at Fremont Speedway Saturday,
May 15 on Fremont Fence Night.
Crews worked on the track all day and there were 33 of the 410 sprints,
41 of the 305 sprints and 39 Coors Light Dirt Trucks in the pits when promoter
Jim Ford asked the drivers if they wanted to chance racing on the wet track.
"Due to safety concerns, and the input from the drivers, we decided
not to chance it. We don't need these guys tearing up a bunch of expensive
equipment and maybe having someone getting hurt. We still have a lot of
racing left this season," said Ford.
Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, May 22 with Roots
Poultry Night. Besides the powerful 410 sprints, Fremont's 305 sprints
will challenge the 360 sprints of the Sprints on Dirt (SOD) organization
in a special $1,500 to win feature. There promises to be close to 90 winged
sprint cars in the pit area for the night's racing.
