53rd YEAR
Computer Man 305 Sprint Dash
By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio - The drivers in the 305 sprint division at Fremont Speedway will have an extra incentive to win their heat races in 2004 - $5,000 in cash.

Ross Paulson and his business, the Computer Man of Fremont, will sponsor the 305 Computer Man Dash in 2004. The winning car and driver from each heat will compete in a special dash each night (there may or may not be a dash for "special events" nights). The dash winner will take home $40, with second winning $30 and third and fourth winning $20.

Also, points will be kept from the dash with the winner picking up five points, second place three points, third place two points and fourth and fifth, one points.

At the end of the season, the high point driver will earn $700. The rest of the point fund is: 2 - $500; 3 - $350; 4 - $270; 5 - $230; 6 - $200; 7 - $175; 8 - $150; 9 - $125; and 10 - $100.

The heat sponsors for the 305 sprints are Fremont Federal Credit Union, Riverside Machine & Tool, Foster Auto Body; Real Geese (half of season) and Borer Glass & Mirror (half of season).

The rules for the Computer Man Dash stipulate drivers must take the green flag to earn points and money (no driver or car substitutions). Other rules are:

- Starting position is determined by current dash point standings. Lower points start in front (tie breaker determined by heat race for that night).

- Season championship tie breaker: 1st, number of dash wins; 2nd, number of dashes made; 3rd, Fremont track championship points.

- Computer Man will keep the official point standings. They will be pointed weekly on Computer Man Inc. website.

- Computer Man will distribute the weekly money to the drivers and the championship money at the awards banquet.

- All money not paid out on weekly shows (rainouts, special events) will be put into the championship point fund.

"This will be a lot of fun for the fans and drivers. Drivers will be going for that heat race win rather than being content to be in a feature transfer spot," said Fremont Speedway Promoter Jim Ford.

"We really have to thank Ross Paulson for putting this package together and all the heat race sponsors. It gives our 305 sprints a chance to make a little more money and have fun doing it," added Ford.
